Political propaganda left at homes in 2 N.J towns and cops are investigating
Updated Feb 03, 2021;
Residents in two Bergen County towns received political literature at their homes that came with silver ball bearings inside plastic bags, police say.
On Wednesday morning, Demarest and Closter residents received Ziploc bags with political propaganda and a silver ball bearing in each package on their driveways and walkways, said Detective Lieutenant Vincent Aiello. Police say the ball bearings were used to weigh down the letters.
Both Aiello and Demarest Chief Christopher Bianchi confirmed that despite initial dispatch reporting “life threatening” letters, the messages residents received were non-threatening.
