I am a Queens resident who experienced the horrors of Rikers Island when I was incarcerated there for four months in 2010. I now work with people coming out of incarceration to provide housing, services and interventions to ensure they don’t return to incarceration. I know what works to change people’s lives because I have seen my own life change.
