When the Irish National Opera comes to town on Friday of this week, Director Fergus Sheil will be reminded of his initiative to set up the Gateway Orchestra in Wexford 20 years ago. With great foresight he was instrumental in launching the orchestra as a way of developing a pool of musicians to sustain Wexford Sinfonia into the future, and he became its first conductor.
This year’s Eugene O’Neill International Festival of Theatre will take place in New Ross from Thursday, October 12, to Sunday, October 15, with a variety of entertainment on offer.
