Trowbridge Sports bar in Castle Street Photo Trevor Porter A TROWBRIDGE bar has been slapped with Wiltshire’s first £1,000 business fine for breaking Covid rules on New Year’s Eve. Wiltshire Council has handed out its first fixed penalty notice to the licensed premises for breaking Covid regulations. The Trowbridge Sports Bar on Castle Street was visited by Wiltshire Police on New Year’s Eve, where they found a small group of people having a private party, which was against Covid laws. The bar had already been given both written and verbal warnings for non-compliance with the pandemic guidance. Evidence collected by police was then shared with the council’s licensing team, who issued the fine under the coronavirus regulations for failing to close – as was required at the time as Wiltshire was in Tier 3.
