Public toilets within the Victoria Square development in Braintree have been approved at a planning committee meeting (Tues, January 19).
The three toilet cubicles will include one cubicle that is accessible to disabled users. They will be opposite the Braintree museum and at the entrance to the new bus interchange being built off Manor Street.
They will be on the ground floor of the main apartment building which will also have a Livewell health hub, pharmacy and restaurant or cafe.
The proposals include baby changing facilities. The unit will be fitted with anti-vandal fixtures and fittings.
Gardaí have said that they will continue with their policy of the Four Es when dealing with the public in the present Level 5 lockdown.
It follows reports of large crowds going to the beach for exercise last week - many of those from outside their 5km travel limit.
Engagement, Explain, Encourage, Enforcement are the levels that gardai have adopted to make sure people stay within the guidelines. We intend to maintain checkpoints, both fixed and roaming and we are asking people to abide by the guidelines, Supt Andrew Watters stated.
Last Friday (1st), Cllr Tom Cunningham reported that the beach in Clogherhead had to be closed.
