FRUSTRATED residents are at the end of their tether after having to put up with speeding and traffic problems on a narrow country lane in Thornton for many years. School Green resident Tracey Thompson said: It s disgusting. It used to be a side road, but now it s the main cut through from one side of Bradford to the other. People come off the roundabout and go hell for leather, said Miss Thompson. We ve had walls knocked down, wing mirrors knocked off, cats killed and road rage incidents at the junction because drivers won t give way. The road isn t designed for the amount of traffic on it.

The letter, signed by over 2,000 local politicians from across the country, claims the massive overhaul would undermine local democracy, scrutiny and accountability - but the Government says their concerns are entirely unfounded. Earlier this year the Government proposed a zoning system to be implemented in the UK. It would see areas divided up into categories that would determine how they are developed in the future. Some areas, such as designated Greenbelt sites, would likely be protected from future development.
