The South East Coastal Protection Alliance raised serious concerns over the rapid rate of erosion taking place at Brittas Bay beach during a presentation made to Wicklow Municipal District, citing the believed effect of wind turbines on tidal flows as a leading cause. Mick Higgins and William Hourie both addressed Monday’s meeting, stating that the targeted erosion along the south end of the beach would appear to indicate a major change in tidal flow.
Tenders for the upgrade of the Assembly Hall in Wicklow town are due later in February with officials keen to progress work quickly as the building is to be used for the Leinster Fleadh in July
The Leinster Fleadh will be hosted by Wicklow town in July of this year, with members of the hosts, Wicklow CCÉ (Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann), making an appeal to the local authority for funding.
While an exact date for this year’s Local Elections has yet to be confirmed, plenty of candidates from County Wicklow have already announced their intentions to run, while some sitting councillors have still yet to make their minds up.
The elected members of Wicklow Municipal District have lent their full support towards plans for the development of a recreational play area at Mullinaveagh, Roundwood as part of the Roundwood Reservoir Recreation Project.
