Lichfield’s MP says he has spoken with the Chancellor in a bid to secure extra support for pubs and hospitality venues forced to close during the coronavirus crisis.
Current restrictions means many businesses remain shuttered following a year of disruption during the pandemic
Conservative MP Michael Fabricant says he has raised the issue with senior Government figures.
“I have been contacted by a number of constituents – most recently by Cllr Richard Cox of Lichfield District Council – asking for financial support for our pubs and other hospitality venues such as restaurants and specialist wedding venues.

The facility has been shut to allow repair work to take place on the swimming pool, changing rooms, gym, squash courts and other rooms.
Current COVID-19 restrictions mean group exercise classes cannot go ahead so the studio will be used as part of an expanded gym to help enable users to socially distance.
Cllr Richard Cox, cabinet member responsible for leisure, said:
“I am delighted we will see Friary Grange reopening as planned in January.
“While much of the repair work needed has been away from public facing areas, I’m confident visitors to the centre will notice the difference from the redecoration of reception, changing room and gym areas, and will be glad to be able to make use of the facilities again.

Households in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded to check for any changes to their bin collections over the festive period.
Calendars have been sent out by Lichfield District Council highlighting alternative collections times for some households.
Bins will not be collected on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Because both fall on a Friday, changes will see:
Homes that would have been due a blue bin collection on Christmas Day will have them collected on either 23rd or 24th December.
Households that would have had their black bins emptied on Christmas Day will have their replacement collections on either 28th or 29th December.
