Police have decided not to take any action against a mayor who was spotted going for a bike ride in his official chains during lockdown with three people outside his household.
Councillor Sabri Ozaydin was filmed in Enfield, north London, proudly wearing his official ceremonial chains with two other councillors and his driver during a cycle last Sunday afternoon.
Despite tweeting from his official social media page during the trip that the four men were exercising , Cll Ozaydin claimed they were taking part in official business on a Sunday.
Cllr Ozaydin was filmed with a large group of cyclists as they took a break outside a coffee shop on Sunday last weekend but the Met Police has announced it will not take any further action against him

Mayor Sabri Ozaydin made a statement on a bike ride that caused controversy The mayor of Enfield has said a bike ride that led to him being accused of breaking lockdown rules was “not a social occasion”. Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, who said he was speaking in a personal capacity, told a council meeting the journey was undertaken “to speak to a local business” and had been “misinterpreted” by councillors and residents. Controversy broke out over a post from the mayor’s Twitter account on Sunday that said: “Mayor of Enfield Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, Cllr Ahmet Hasan, Cllr Mustafa Cetinkaya are out cycling getting their daily exercise.”
