BUNGALOWS: The land at Birchwood Mill off Northwick Close in Worcester A PLAN to build bungalows near to the city’s riverside has been refused over fears they would encroach on the city’s green space and riverside. The proposal to build three bungalows in the grounds of Birchwood Mill off Northwick Close in Worcester was rejected by the city council’s planning committee over the potential loss of important green space. The main building on the site was home to Little Squirrels Early Years and Pre-School before it closed suddenly in February last year following a damning Ofsted inspection.

Northwick Developments had its plan to build a two-storey £9 million care home off Northwick Road in Northwick near Worcester refused by Wychavon District Council who said the land needed protecting for the community. Delighted campaigners who rallied to save the cherished Donkey Field said the site had been saved for future generations and common sense had prevailed. A petition with more than 1,100 signatures and more than 160 objections were lodged with the district council before a decision was made.
