Post-Brexit lorry site set for 600 vehicle movements a day

By Aran Dhillon, Local Democracy Reporter Parish councillor Tim Martland THERE are expected to be up to 600 lorry movements per day when a post-Brexit inland border facility opens in two weeks. The Government site on land formerly home to the Shearings interchange in Appleton Thorn will be operational from January 1 after the Brexit transition period ends. It will be used as an inland border control point for heavy goods vehicle, where customs and document checks can take place away from port locations. Signage will be in place to direct drivers to the facility, with customs checks expected to take between one to two hours.
