A petition calling on the London Mayor to drop disastrous plans to charge Dartford motorists crossing into Greater London has surpassed 25,000 signatures â and has drawn opposition from the Labour party.
In two years time it could cost £3.50 for north Kent residents to drive into the neighbouring borough of Bexley.

The Greater London Boundary Charge is among the ideas put forward by the Mayor Sadiq Khan (Lab) to raise an estimated £500 million a year for cash-strapped Transport for London (TfL).

A local authority in Kent has proposed freezing council tax from April as more residents and businesses face financial hardship from the pandemic.
Dartford council leader Jeremy Kite (Con) has pledged to keep the fees paid to his Conservative administration at the same level for the next financial year.

If approved next month, hundreds of Band D householders would continue to pay £181 for the borough council portion of the council tax bill. The cash goes towards a range of services such as weekly bin collections, parking and leisure.
Consultation on Crossrail extension to Ebbsfleet and proposals for Dartford and Gravesend

Five proposals aimed at improving public transport in north Kent have been tabled including plans to extend Crossrail to Ebbsfleet.
The C2E Partnership, which includes both Dartford and Gravesham councils, has launched a consultation on new options for faster services connecting Ebbsfleet to the two towns.
It is proposed to extend Crossrail from its currently terminus at Abbey Wood to Ebbsfleet.
Plans include three options to extend the Elizabeth Line from its current planned stop at Abbey Wood towards Dartford.
There are also upgrades to the existing rail network and a new bus rapid transit scheme proposed , which would join up south east London with the existing Fastrack service from Dartford to Ebbsfleet and Gravesend.
