EFFORTS to sell off a piece of land to make way for a new religious hall have been sent back to council chiefs over fears there was a lack of consultation with Nunthorpe folk. Middlesbrough Council leaders agreed to sell a six acre parcel of land south of the A1043 bypass in November to make way for a new Plymouth Brethren hall. But Friday’s overview and scrutiny board agreed to bounce the sale back to the authority’s executive after the decision was “called-in” by Cllr Jon Rathmell and independent colleagues. The rectangular parcel of land forms part of Nunthorpe Grange Farm south of Guisborough Road and north of Church Lane.
