JUST CHAMPION: Blackrod Country Primary School pupils were the winners A HORSE was a winner in the RSPCA’s “animal in the service of man” school project. Made by pupils of Blackrod county primary school, it was one of several entries that gave the school first prize in the competition, that took place in 1981. Other winning entries in the contest, which was organised through Bolton Education department, were the The Oaks CP School, Eagley Junior, Holy Family RC, Oxford Grove CP, Sunning Hill CP, Tonge Moor CP, Sacred Heart Infants, St Catherine’s CE (Horwich), St James’ CE, Chequerbent CE and High Lawn CP.
