The Whitby District Sheds in Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay is joining the UK Men’s Sheds Association today (Mar 3) as it launches the Charter for wellbeing in craft and DIY.

Twelve months ago, volunteer-run Thirsk Falcons Football Club lost its junior teams’ equipment in an arson attack that destroyed the container unit in which the gear was stored. “It was a real shock to the club,” said secretary Debbie Ingoldsby. “But the community was absolutely fantastic. They pulled round us and supported the club.”
Cllr Geoff Webber who has died TRIBUTES have been paid to a North Yorkshire councillor who is remembered as a champion for his community . Cllr Geoff Webber, the Liberal Democrat group leader on North Yorkshire County Council, died on Thursday, March 11. Fellow councillors have paid tribute to Cllr Webber, who represented Harrogate Bilton and Nidd Gorge division on the county council. County council leader Cllr Carl Les said: “I am very saddened to hear of Geoff’s death and my thoughts are with his wife and family at this time. “Geoff and I served on the county council for a similar length of time and I enjoyed many discussions and debates with him, and when he spoke I listened. He was a very principled man and was passionate about the community that elected him.
