Chief executive of Denbighshire County Council to leave role after nearly three years in the job

THE chief executive of Denbighshire County Council is leaving her role. The local authority said Judith Greenhalgh will leave her role on April 6 after nearly three years in the post to take a career break for personal reasons . A spokesperson for the council said: The council would like to thank Judith for her contribution during her time with Denbighshire County Council and wish her all the very best for the future. Cllr Hugh Evans, leader of Denbighshire County Council, said: We will be taking steps to recruit a new CEO over the coming months. Our two Corporate Directors will assume leadership responsibilities, supported by the Senior Leadership Team, until such time as the new CEO is in post.

Little Venice was no underground canal but a miniature exhibition, says Rhyl historian

A HISTORIAN claims he has the answer to decades-old rumours of a legendary canal attraction beneath Queen s Market. Local historian Colin Jones said Little Venice has been misinterpreted and mythologised as an underground structure when it was in fact no more than a miniature exhibition in the basement of the former Queen s Palace. Mr Jones, who has carried out years of research using old documents including local newspapers at Rhyl Library, said the exhibition itself was not unique when it was created in 1903. “From my studies, I can confirm Little Venice was an exhibition in the basement of Queen’s Palace, which was based on a bigger exhibition in London, but there was nothing at a lower level such as an ‘underground river’, he said.
