Durham vaccination centre opens for social and care workers

FRONTLINE keyworkers caring for some of County Durham’s most vulnerable residents have started to get Covid-19 vaccines at a new dedicated centre. The facility has opened at County Hall, in Durham, to vaccinate frontline social care workers, including those employed by Durham County Council, the NHS and the independent sector. The centre will operate seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm, to ensure those working with elderly people and children and adults with complex needs are offered vaccines as quickly and efficiently as possible. It is anticipated up to 10,000 social care workers will be vaccinated at the centre over the next five weeks.

City of Durham MP helps bring Christmas cheer to Shadforth and Ludworth

CITY of Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy joined volunteers from Ludworth Community Association in spreading the Christmas cheer by delivering a bag of fresh vegetables and a bag of festive food to every house in the village. The also visited a number of homes in neighbouring Shadforth in the latest of a series of community actions by local volunteers. Those involved included community centre chairman Dave Woods and his daughter Rachel and the Labour Party candidates for the Trimdon and Thornley Division Councillor Lucy Hovvels, Chris Varty, and Jake Miller along with a number of hard-working residents in the community.
