Improvements to Hearse Road critical , says councillor

A Fianna Fáil councillor has asked the council to give serious consideration to carrying out an assessment of Hearse Road, Donabate due to the lack of footpath/cycle lane provision. Cllr Adrian Henchy, in a question put forward to a recent Local Area Committee meeting, told the council there is a huge safety issue for residents living on Hearse Road and off Hearse Road in the Ballymadrough and Lanistown areas. Cllr Henchy said it is now a matter of critical importance that the installation of footpath and cycle lanes are commended starting in and around the area from Jones Garden Centre, given that footpath and cycle lane provision is a key objective for Donabate within the Fingal Development Plan.

Council passes new speed limit by-laws

New Fingal County Council speed limit by-laws are set to see a speed limit of 30kph introduced for more residential estates and go-slow limits set for our schools. The Fingal County Council Special Speed Limit Draft Bye-Laws 2021 were approved at a recent full meeting of the council. The completion of a five-year speed limit review on regional and local roads is required by the Department of Transport and supported by Fingal County Council s Road Safety Plan. The previous full county speed limit review was adopted in 2014, and a number of amendments to the 2014 Speed Limits have been enacted between 2014-2019 incorporating the necessary changes to the speed limits on the road network as they were required.
