The people of Castletroy will have to wait until next year at least for a pedestrian crossing on Old Schoolhouse Road.
Labour Cllr Elena Secas has been campaigning for three years for a crossing close to the bus stop at Kylemore where parents and young children cross regularly to a creche.
Limerick City and County Council say the money isn t in the budget to provide a crossing this year but they will consider it for 2022.
Cllr Secas wants the council to apply to the National Roads Authority for funding but in the meantime she says people need to show personal responsibility..
Council to lobby Rehab over Limerick job losses

THE Department of Social Protection is to consider activating a community employment scheme to accommodate those people who’ve lost their jobs at Rehab Enterprises in Raheen.
Limerick TD Willie O’Dea has held talks with Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys and the Minister of State Joe O’Brien on the matter, with the Fianna Fail man raising the matter through a parliamentary question next week.
The disclosure came from Mr O’Dea’s secretary, Cllr Catherine Slattery at a special meeting of the local authority on the job cuts at the electrical assembly plant, which had employed staff with intellectual and physical disabilities.

THE deputy chief executive of Limerick City and County Council has apologised to councillors for “the inconvenience caused” after information regarding the upgrading of Castletroy Neighbourhood Park was “incorrectly” provided to a TD in advance of them being informed.
The emailed apology came after a question was submitted by Cllr Elena Secas asking “Could you please advise how and why this information was made available to an Oireachtas member and then circulated into the public domain before the elected members of this local authority were informed?”
