A pair of bearded collie dogs wait patiently at a polling station PREPARATION is under way in Hampshire as residents will head to the polls on May 6. In this year’s local elections Hampshire residents will be asked to elect county councillors, borough and district councillors and the new Police and Crime Commissioner. The news comes as last year’s elections were cancelled due to the pandemic. But earlier this month it was confirmed that this year’s elections will go ahead – although there would be new rules to follow and residents will have to take their own pencil to the polling station.
