Councillors are bypassed in crucial decision for Corbally residents

Limerick s Live 95 Search By Live95 News Team via Getty Images Limerick councillors have been bypassed on a crucial decision which could impact on thousands of residents in the Corbally, Lower Park and Rhebogue areas.  Plans to build a new bridge over the canal have been lodged directly with an Bord Pleanala.  It means that local councillors won t get a vote. Currently traffic crosses the canal in a two way system, controlled by traffic lights, over Mike Madden s Bridge (also known locally as the Humpback Bridge). This system allows traffic to pass over the bridge one way at a time.  Limerick City and County Council plans to construct another bridge east of this that would allow for a two-way system and would restrict the existing bridge to use for pedestrians and cyclists.
