Absolute chaos : Fife motorists facing more delays as resurfacing works continue

Updated: April 29, 2021, 1:24 pm © Gareth Jennings/DCT Media Road absolute chaos : another day of misery and delays for motorists in Fife Motorists in north east Fife are facing another day of traffic misery with long tailbacks and delays due to ongoing resurfacing work. Drivers face several miles of queuing traffic backed up from A91 west of St Andrews to Leuchars as improvement work continues. They are being warned they could face lengthy delays and longer journey times while public transport services are also being affected. Some irate motorists have vented their frustration on social media with one calling the situation “absolute chaos” while another said his regular 15 minute journey from Leuchars to Strathkinness took “well over an hour”.

Potholes: New reporting system criticised by Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay councillor

NEW council website tools requiring West Fifers to hand over personal data before reporting a pothole are being reviewed following criticism. Councillor Dave Dempsey says the integration of the myaccount system into Fife Council’s website, while well-intended, has made simple tasks such as reporting potholes “complicated” and even “impossible”. The Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay councillor claims to have tried to report a pothole last week but his efforts were in vain as the website, in his words, “fell over”. He has called for council IT bosses to review the use of the new system. Cllr Dempsey said: “It’s not my pothole. It’s location isn’t my personal data. I shouldn’t even have to identify myself. I’m trying to help the council, not the other way round.

Fife tops pothole table as councillor insists our roads have never been worse

A PETITION demanding that Fife Council fixes potholed roads has been signed by more than 2,200 people. Councillor Linda Holt started it after stating that the Kingdom s carriageways have never been in a worse condition and that a promised £2 million budget increase to tackle the problem was smoke and mirrors . She wants a change in policy and more funding for smoother journeys and said: A recent AA survey showed Fife topping the pothole league table in Scotland. This is the result of more extreme weather events (flooding and the recent snow) in recent times but also, more significantly, years of cuts to the roads maintenance budget.
