Lancashire’s new Chief Constable has spoken of his pride as he today takes the helm of the county’s police force.
Chris Rowley, 52, has taken over from departing chief Andy Rhodes, who is retiring after 30 years with Lancashire Constabulary, with the last four years in the top role.
Mr Rowley has become the top police officer in Lancashire following a promotion from his previous role of deputy chief constable of Humberside Police, a post he had held since 2017.

Ch Con Rowley, who is married with two grown up sons, has spent most of his police career in West Yorkshire, and has amassed 28 and a half years’ service working mainly in local policing and crime.

Police break up gatherings breaching coronavirus rules POLICE have logged more than 30,000 coronavirus incidents in the last year - most in the east of the county. Almost 25,000 of them have been categorised as anti-social behaviour with young men responsible for most of the breaches of Covid-19 rules. The figures are revealed in a report to this week s meeting of the Police and Crime Panel for Lancashire which oversees the work of the county force. It says: The panel are advised that since March 23 2020, there have been more than 30,000 Covid-19 -related incidents logged and almost 25,000 were categorised as anti-social behaviour. Most incidents have occurred within East Basic Command Unit which covers Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley, and Rossendale
