CLARKSVILLE EMS technicians with Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District were the first of four districts to receive body armor for use in active aggressor responses. The four sets of armor were provided by Clinton County Emergency Management Agency after completing Rescue Task Force (RTF) training. “An RTF is a team of law enforcement and EMS who enter a stabilized scene to provide immediate triage and care of wounded during an active aggressor event,” said EMA Director Thomas Breckel. “Real-world instances where casualties have been transported and arrived for treatment at an emergency room have a 96% survival rate, so the urgency in getting to those in need of help is critical.”

The entire structure has smoke damage, while the upstairs and the attic have extensive fire damage, said Clinton Warren Joint Fire District & EMS Chief Bob Wysong. The residents, Patricia and John Helterbran, were home when the fire struck but are not injured.

Fire strikes house Thursday Nobody was home when fire out broke Thursday afternoon at a residence on U.S. 68 south of Wilmington. A passing motorist reported the fire to emergency personnel. The living room and attic received fire damage, while there was smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house. Wilmington Fire Department Lt. Rick Birt said once firefighters arrived, they performed “a rapid extinguishment.” The specific cause had not been determined as of early Friday, but it is listed as accidental. A dog died in the incident. Providing mutual aid to the Wilmington Fire Department & EMS were the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District & EMS as well as the Martinsville/Clark Twp. Fire Department.
