The P.E.I. government finally released details on how it will address the shortage of long-term care beds on the Island, but it comes with a higher price tag for residents of the facilities.
In its most recent licensing decision, the P.E.I. Community Care Facilities and Nursing Homes Board has ruled that three privately run long-term care homes are still not meeting the provincial inspection standards for full licences.
Multiple private long-term care homes on P.E.I. have been failing to meet the required inspection standards. But the Community Care Facility and Nursing Home Board says closing a home is a last resort, given current waitlists and the already-strained system.
