news. he joins us now from d.c. thank you for joining me today. republicans are dramatically outspending democrats on impeachment-related ads. what do you think the end game is with the strategy here? phillip, it appears they are trying to harness this impeachment effort that has been launched by house democrats into a slingshot for their campaign, especially president trump. he frequently boasts about how much money the republican party and its relax campaign have taking in based on impeachment. if you look at the fundraising appeals to donors, a lot of them cite impeachment, trying to get his supporters riled up, you know, about trying to get them to believe this is a hoax. so they are using this as really ammunition for them to boost their election campaigns come the fall. we have got majority leader mitch mcconnell saying he is going to run the senate trial in accordance with the white house.
that would go. it appears thatere is not that this time. there was coordination between the clinton white house and senate democrats in that trial. it s not unprecedented. but diminish schiadam schiff sa seen polarization harden between the clinton trial and the trump trial, whereas the clinton white house was worried about massive defections from house democrats in their impeachment vote and this white house has done some things to keep house republicans in line. they have hosted some folks up at camp david and at the white house for movie nights and things like that to, you know, keep house democrats or house republicans, excuse me, in the fold. there was really never a big fear there was going to be a massive defection of house republicans. that shows you how much president trump has a grip on the republican party. all right. jordan fabian joining us. thank you so much. my pleasure. a new development in america s longest war. first reported by nbc news, the
