In 2001, there was only one television station and it was owned by the government. Today there are 75 stations. And only two and all of those but two are privately owned. And in 2001, there were virtually no cell phones in the country. Today, there are 18 million covering about 90 of residential areas. 80 of afghan women. Now have access to a cell phone meaning they are connected to their families, their friends, and most importantly, theyre connected to the world and the future. Thanks to entrepreneurs like roya, afghan women will now also be connected to the internet too. Ten years ago, it just would have been unfathomable to imagine this.
