MINNEAPOLIS Now that the United States has secured enough COVID-19 vaccine doses to reach an estimated 300 million Americans by July, Dr. Anthony Fauci says parents could expect to have their school-aged children vaccinated by the time schools go back to class next fall.
The timeline is dependent on child vaccine trials that have already begun across the country, including here in Minnesota.
On Friday, 14-year-old Max Aronson became the latest to enroll in a Moderna adolescent COVID-19 vaccine trial at the Clinical Research Institute in Minneapolis.

Three weeks after a federal official said Moderna was struggling to find adolescent volunteers for its latest COVID-19 vaccine study, the Cambridge biotech says enrollment has picked up and it expects to have results of the clinical trial around the middle of the year.
Moderna became the second drug maker to have a coronavirus vaccine cleared for emergency use, on Dec. 18, but the Food and Drug Administration restricted it to people 18 and older, the age range of participants in the firmâs late-stage trial. Pfizer-BioNTech

MINNEAPOLIS With COVID-19 vaccinations underway in hospitals across the country, Moderna is next on the list to make history pending FDA approval of its vaccine.
Dr. Gary Berman with the Clinical Research Institute in Minneapolis is helping lead a local Moderna vaccine study. Today we administered the first two Moderna vaccines, said Dr. Berman, Principal Investigator of the study.
The study will look at the efficacy of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine compared to placebo in adolescents, age 12 to 17. We re working as fast and diligently as we can to get volunteers scheduled, enrolled and we re going to be following them for the next 13 months, said Dr. Berman.
