Clinica Nueva Esperanza, started nine years ago in the village of San Jose Palmar neighboring Orange Walk Town, is now one of three companies that has entered contracts with the Government of Belize to provide Belizeans with access to National Health Insurance (NHI). It has now given the residents of Orange Walk a place to turn to when their medical needs have to be met, but they are struggling to make ends meet.
