Open enrollment to apply for Habitat for Humanity housing
Special to The Oak Ridger
Clinch River Habitat for Humanity is choosing two families for its housing program in Roane County.
Open enrollment started March 1. Due to COVID-19 the orientation is online only, according to a Habitat news release.
If you can answer “yes” to these questions then Clinch River Habitat for Humanity is the organization for you.
• Have you been a resident of Anderson County or Roane County for a minimum of one year?
• Is your current housing inadequate and/or the conditions substandard?
• Do you have a steady, reliable source of income? Can you pay a mortgage along with other monthly expenses (including long term debt)?
New year, new home: Celebrate!
Oakridger
Clinch River Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated a new home with owner Rebecca “Becky” Soles and her lovely daughters; COVID-19 style.
Instead of the usual church gathering for a home dedication, Clinch River Habitat for Humanity opted for safety and did an outdoor service led by Pastor Derrick Hammond of Oak Valley Baptist Church and a drive by celebration.
“We hated that we could not celebrate in the usual fashion, but we are mindful of the rise in COVID-19 cases and want to keep our families safe.” Charlotte Bowers Cunningham, Clinch River Habitat for Humanity executive director, stated in a news release.
