Carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) is seen as a promising and industry-friendly solution to reducing greenhouse-gas emissions in the immediate future. It’s been endorsed by the Conservative Party under successive leaders. Looking ahead to the next election, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has promised a robust climate plan to meet Canada’s climate goals. While it won’t include a carbon tax, carbon capture may figure prominently in it. “This is the most proven way to reduce carbon (emissions),” Conservative MP Greg McLean, the party’s Natural Resources critic, told iPolitics.
