Highly Uncommon Freezing Weather Soon to Hit Hungary
A Mediterranean cyclone is passing over Hungary, forecasted to bring strong stormy winds and freezing weather, according to the Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ). The recent rainfall will likely be replaced by snow and ice.
The warmest temperatures in Hungary during next week will likely be between 4 and 12 degrees Celsius, cooling down between -1 and +7 in the evening.
Some areas of the country could reach negative 15-20 degrees in the evening, exceedingly rare weather in the Carpathian Basin. It is possible that such temperatures could remain until February 20.
Hungary’s weather forecast is also relevant from a health and safety perspective. Dr. Ferenc Pintér, director of Meteo Clinic, said that the cold increases the infectivity of respiratory diseases due to the weakening of the immune system. To deal with such a problem, Pintér suggests an increased vitamin C, vitamin D, and magnesium intake.
