Shahab Uddin urges Awami League men to be united

HABIGANJ, Jan 06, 2021 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin here today urged his party men to be united against all sorts of conspiracy, to continue development process in the country.
“The anti-libearation force is still continuing conspiracy to halt the ongoing development works of the country,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a building of Kurshi govt girls primary school in Nabiganj this noon.
Shahab Uddin said as part of the safety net programmes, the distressed and elderly people are receiving special assistances from the government.
She was 86.
Rabeya started her writing career crossing the barriers of patriarchal society and when women were almost confined to their homes.
The novelist died at her Banani residence around 5:00pm after suffering a cardiac arrest, said her family. She is survived by two daughters and two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
In her career spanning almost six decades, Rabeya had shown her capacities in short stories, essays, religious history, and travelogues. And she became an inspiration for many budding writers, including females.
Rabeya wrote over 50 novels and more than 400 short stories.
She received Ekushey Padak in 1993 and Independence Day Award in 2017, the two most prestigious and highest civilian awards of the Bangladesh government, for her contributions to literature.
Govt working sincerely to tackle natural calamities: Shahab Uddin

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2020 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin today said the present government is working successfully to deal with various types of natural calamities, including floods and cyclones.
“The government is relentlessly implementing various adaptations and mitigation measures to reduce the risks of climate change. In this case, if Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates work together to tackle climate change in the interest of their respective people, this activity will be more dynamic,” he said.
The minister said this while interacting with Fatima bint Hazza Foundation Executive Director Maysoon Barber through a video conferencing from the office room of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change at the Bangladesh Secretariat here.
