Federal Food Program Aims To Boost Rossville Boulevard Corridor By Working Through Crabtree Farms Wednesday, June 2, 2021 The Biden Administration has announced that Chattanooga is one of 13 communities selected to participate in Local Foods, Local Places (LFLP), a federal partnership program that supports community-led efforts to reinvest in existing neighborhoods, protects the environment, and improves residents’ health and quality of life through the development of the local food economy. Through LFLP, a team of agricultural, environmental, public health and regional economic development experts will work directly with Crabtree Farms, The BLVD Project, and ELLA Library and other community leaders to improve the Rossville Boulevard corridor and the neighborhoods it ties together.

Hamilton County Schools Announce New Principals Monday, May 10, 2021 Hamilton County Schools announced several personnel updates Monday. Andrea Johnson is the new principal at Barger Academy. She previously served as the principal at Lakeside Academy, a Level 5 school. Ms. Johnson, a 26-year veteran of Hamilton County Schools, first joined the district as a teacher and taught for 13 years. In 2008, she moved to the district level as a secondary literacy coordinator, and later served as assistant principal at both Woodmore Elementary School and Lakeside Academy. Ms. Johnson has been the principal at Lakeside Academy since 2014, where she started a Destination Imagination class to engage students in STEM challenges, creativity, and collaboration. She is the recipient of an Annenberg Foundation Grant (2017), and made it to the Global Finals of the first Destination Imagination Competition (2015-2016).

Hamilton County Schools Announces Personnel Updates Thursday, April 29, 2021 Bethanie Reynolds As the district looks to the 2021-2022 school year, Hamilton County Schools announced several personnel updates on Thursday. Angie Cass has been named the principal at Soddy Daisy High School. She previously served as principal of Ooltewah High School. Ms. Cass is a product of Hamilton County Schools and a 23-year veteran of the district. Throughout her career, she has worked as a teacher, district curriculum coach, assistant principal and principal at a variety of schools in the district. While Cass served as principal at East Ridge Middle, she led the school to become a Reward School in 2016-2017 and back-to-back years at Level 5 status. She also held the role of assistant principal of Soddy Daisy High School for four years. Cass’ accomplishments include being named TSSAA District 3 A.F. Bridges Principal of the Year (2019), serving as an HCS Mentor Principal

Hamilton County Schools Announce New Principals Thursday, April 22, 2021 Dr. Sarah Lane As the district looks to the 2021-2022 school year, Hamilton County Schools announced several personnel updates Thursday, including new principals.  Crystal Sorrells has been named the principal at Brainerd High School. She previously served as principal of East Ridge High School and was named 2021 Principal of the Year for Hamilton County Schools.  Ms. Sorrells, a Brainerd High School graduate, has been an educator for 22 years and is the daughter of two longtime HCS educators. She first joined Hamilton County Schools in 2009 as assistant principal at Brainerd High School. Since then, she’s served as principal at Orchard Knob Middle, Tyner Middle Academy and East Ridge High School. Ms. Sorrells is a High School Mentor Principal for the Missionary Ridge Learning Community and graduated with the first cohort from the Principal Leadership Academy sponsored by Hamilton County Schools
