A Lafayette grand jury found a man guilty of sending hoax letters with white talcum powder to the U.S. Senate.
Clifton Dodd, 49, was found guilty Friday of four counts of false information and hoaxes with a biological agent.
U.S. Senate personnel received four suspicious envelopes on May 2, 2016, that had a return address of FCI Oakdale and a different incarcerated person s name attached to each, according to a release from the Department of Justice. The low-security prison is about an hour and a half northwest of Lafayette.
The envelopes contained a white powder, later determined to be talcum powder, and a note in all caps that said, my boss made me do this.
