Foot and mouth disease outbreak in Kent in 2001

The sight of dead cattle, sheep and pigs being torched in fields was an enduring image of foot and mouth disease, which plagued Kent and the rest of the country in 2001. The highly infectious epidemic had taken such a grip that even uncontaminated animals were slaughtered to stop the spread.

On February 27 the KM Group s then evening newspaper, Medway Today, published harrowing pictures of cattles bodies being burned after they were laid out on coal and straw.
Over 80s in Hoo Peninsula to be offered Covid-19 vaccine

GP surgeries across the Hoo Pennisula have now been approved by the NHS management as a provider to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine.
Tonight, MP Kelly Tolhurst announced that the Pennisula PCN which includes the GP surgeries at Highparks, Cliffe, Cliffe Woods, Wainscott & Higham, St Werburgh and the Elms have now been approved to offer the Covid-19 vaccine.

But today Kelly Tolhurst announced: As I understand the vaccine will only be delivered from one of the sites in the initial stages.
