WOMAN SHOT: A 26-year-old Springfield woman was taken to Bronson Battle Creek with gunshot wounds to the upper portion of both legs after a shooting at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday in the first block of North 11th Street, in Springfield. Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies believe she was shot by a 16-year-old Battle Creek boy as part of an ongoing dispute between several people. Deputies were called at 8:15 p.m. to the house where the victim lives after four young women entered the house looking for an 18-year-old woman who lives there, but was not at home. Deputies said the shooting victim was shot near the home. The shooting is believed to connected to the earlier home invasion and to an assault in Battle Creek. Deputies are seeking a warrant for the 16-year-old suspect in the shooting and for four females, 24, two 17 and one 16, for the home invasion.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS RESTORED: Traffic signals at the intersection of Main Street and Columbia Avenue in Emmett Township were disabled Wednesday morning in a traffic crash, according to the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety. Crews from the City of Battle Creek Signal Division and the Michigan Department of Transportation worked with temporary stop signs at the intersection. The signal was restored by around 3:30 p.m. Emmett Township police reported the crash at 7:27 a.m. when an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and hit a westbound vehicle and one of them crashed into a pole, dropping the traffic signals to the pavement.
