CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - It was windy, cold, and the usual crack of a bat at Progressive Field was replaced by a “ping,” but it was baseball nonetheless at Progressive Field on Friday. The Hardball Classic, a day of high school baseball games on a big league field, was back. “We are excited to bring back the [Cleveland Indians Charities] Hardball Classic after two years of a hiatus,” said Indians Vice President of Communications Curtis Danburg. “We got rained out two years ago and last year obviously due to COVID. Many of these athletes have been waiting for this day and it’s finally here.”

Cleveland, OH - The 16th annual Cleveland Indians Charities (CIC) High School Hardball Classic, presented by Nike, featuring eight area high school baseball teams, will be played at Progressive Field on Friday, April 16. This year’s participating teams include Avon Lake, Kenston, Fairview Park, Chardon, Bay Village, Benedictine, St. Edwards and Chagrin Falls.
This year’s schedule:
3:00 p.m. Fairview Park vs. Chardon
5:30 p.m. Bay Village vs. Benedictine
8:00 p.m. St. Edward vs. Chagrin Falls
Tickets for the 2021 Hardball Classic are being sold by each participating high school and benefits Cleveland Indians Charities.
