Driver clocked at 118km/hr claimed her speedo was out

Premium Content Subscriber only A woman told police her speedometer “was out” when she was caught driving at 118km per hour on a road near Clermont. Police officers were travelling south on Gregory Developmental Road near Belyando Crossing on September 25, 2020, when they saw a vehicle driving at speed towards them and recorded a speed of 118km/hr in a 100km/hr zone. Rebecca Fay Potts pleaded guilty at Clermont Magistrates Court on April 14 to disobeying the speed limit. Police prosecutor Sergeant Paul Cramp said when police spoke to Potts, she thought she was travelling about 115km/hr in a 110km/hr zone.

Police warn of domino effect after Walkerston ram raid

Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Jack Savage said an investigation was continuing after a masked driver ploughed a stolen Toyota HiLux utility through the front doors of Western Suburbs Leagues Club. Sergeant Savage said the ute, stolen from an Eton property on the Peak Downs Highway, was used to break into the club just before 3am on Wednesday, January 6.   Three minutes of CCTV footage captured the frenzied rampage, with the car smashing through the entrance hall 15 times before the masked offender left the ute.

ATM ripped from CQ pub in destructive crime spree

Premium Content Subscriber only Destructive thieves ripped an ATM out of a wall during a ram raid of a Clermont business overnight Wednesday. Police were called to the Grand Hotel in Clermont about 6.50am Thursday after a hotel manager woke to find the destruction. A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the building at the corner of Capella and Daintree St was severely damaged, with a whole wall ripped out during the theft of the ATM.
