When asbestos was found at the Isabella County Building in October, prompting the evacuation of the facility, Clerk Minde Lux knew it would be a challenge to relocate.
Isabella County's administrator, treasurer, drain commissioner, equalization and register of deeds offices are now open at a building on Pickard Street in Mt. Pleasant, while other offices are operating from various locations during the shutdown of the administration building.
In the wake of the unexpected cost of removing asbestos from the administration building coupled with going over budget on the construction of the Isabella County Jail, county commissioners are asking voters to approve a millage that would generate more than $6 million.
