Clemson is the perfect intersection of family and program for 5-star Nolan Hauser

November was a whirlwind for Hough High School junior kicker Nolan Hauser. Within the span of 10 days, Hauser was offered by Clemson University, broke the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record for career field goals made, and committed to the Tigers. Many people hear stories about former professional athletes who have difficulty transitioning to life when their playing days are over. Participating in sports has been their life since the time they were youngsters, and it is difficult to give it up. Some even face depression. That is not the case for former Clemson All-America tight end Dwayne Allen, who has transitioned nicely into working with the NFL Players Association. His current profession is in the player affairs division, where he has the title of player director. His journey to this position dates to his time in Tigertown. “It goes back to when I won the John Mackey Award,” said Allen, who won the honor presented to the top tight end in the nation in 2011. “When you win the award, you go to Orlando, Fla. for a dinner and meet with the people of the Mackey Foundation. Note: The following appears in the Furman football gameday program.The history of the Clemson vs. Furman series dates to the first game in Tiger history on Oct. 31, 1896. Given that fact and the relative geography (schools separated by 28 miles), it only makes sense that there have been a few coaches who have ties to both schools.Two of those coaches are Bob Smith and Robbie Caldwell. While it happened about 35 years apart, I was truly blessed to work with both of them.Smith and Caldwell are both Furman graduates. Smith was from the class of 1934 and Caldwell was from the class of 1977. Both are in the Furman Hall of Fame, as Smith was inducted in 1982 and Caldwell was inducted in 2019. Smith is in the Clemson Hall of Fame as well and is the only person who can claim that Hall of Fame double.Smith was a three-sport star at Furman, as he was a standout in football, basketball and baseball. Martin and Young Earn PGA Tour Cards

CLEMSON, S.C. Former Clemson All-Americans Ben Martin and Carson Young both earned PGA Tour cards for the 2022-23 season on Sunday with top 25 finishes at the Korn Ferry Tour Playoff. It will be Martin’s 10th year on the PGA Tour, but the first for Young.Young, a native Pendleton, S.C., is the 17th different former Tiger golfer to earn full status on the PGA Tour. Martin and Young will be two of four former Tigers who will have full status on the PGA Tour next year, as they will be joined by Lucas Glover and Doc Redman. Jonathan Byrd, Kyle Stanley and D.J. Trahan, all former winners on the PGA Tour, will have varying limited status.Martin played on the PGA Tour this past year and finished 151st on the FedX Cup points list. The native of Greenwood, S.C. needed to finish in the top 25 during these Korn Ferry Tour Playoffs to improved to full status. An All-American at Clemson in 2010 as a senior, Martin is a veteran of 204 PGA tournaments and has 16 top 10s, including a victory.  M

Eleven to Be Inducted into Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2022

  Dwayne Allen, Football, 2009-11  Winner of the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end for 2011 Named first-team All-American by Associated Press, Football Writers Association, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and second team by CBS Sports in 2011. Joins Clemson Hall of Famer Bennie Cunningham as only consensus All-America tight ends in Clemson history. First-team All-ACC in 2011, he was second-team in 2010. As a junior, his final year at Clemson, caught 50 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, helping Clemson to its first ACC Championship in 20 years. Finished his career with 93 catches for 1079 yards and 12 touchdown.
