The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has insisted that the formation of a group called Southwest Agenda for 2023 (SWAGA) to lead the presidential aspiration of the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was tantamount to anti-party activity.
Fayemi said it was wrong for the group to have been conceived in the first instance, even when the Lagos State Governorship Advisory Council(GAC) chaired by Tinubu had dissolved all groups in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, for internal cohesion.
Senator Adeyeye had last Wednesday blasted Fayemi for allegedly instigating the removal of a ward 8 Chairman in Ado Ekiti Local Government Area, Mr. Clement Afolabi, for allegedly hobnobbing with SWAGA against Fayemi presidential aspiration.
The former minister for Works and Housing, Adeyeye, was reacting to a lingering orchestrated attempt by a group, ostensibly acting a script, to suspend the Caretaker Chairman of Ado Ekiti Ward 8 of the APC, Clement Afolabi, on trumped-up allegation of fraternising with SWAGA.
Afolabi was accused of anti-party activities for allegedly supporting the choice of Tinubu, even as he has been given a clean bill by his immediate constituency which declared confidence in him, sequel to the notice on Tuesday.
Reacting, Adeyeye described the political happenings in Ekiti under the watch of Fayemi as “a theatre of the absurd by an evil-intending, vicious leader with mission to smash the eggs, kill the hen and put the entire poultry on fire.”

The National Chairman of the South West Agenda for 2023 (SWAGA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has called on the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, to place Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on the watchlist of suspected disloyal members.
Adeyeye said this in reaction to Tuesday’s suspension of the APC ward 8 chairman in Ado Ekiti Council area, Mr. Clement Afolabi, for allegedly coordinating for SWAGA in his ward.
SWAGA is a political pressure group within the APC, rooting for Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate, come 2023 against Fayemi’s aspiration.

FORMER Senate spokesperson and the National Chairman of the South West Agenda for 2023, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, on Wednesday, accused Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, of plotting to decimate the All Progressives Congress.
Adeyeye urged party leaders to call Fayemi to order.
He said the governor’s actions and utterances “smirk of quick, deliberate, steps aimed at rescuing victory from the mouth of APC’s nascent national electoral fortunes.”
This was contained in a statement signed by his Media Manager, Mr. Gboyega Adeoye, in Ado Ekiti.
He spoke in response to sack of the APC Caretaker Chairman of Ado Ekiti Ward 8, Clement Afolabi, on trumped up allegation of fraternising with SWAGA, a group which had been canvassing support for the presidential bid of APC National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu.
2023: Fayemi, Tinubu loyalists clash in Ekiti
Both Tinubu and Fayemi are yet to declare their presidential ambition ahead of the 2023 elections. 4 min read
The members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State loyal to Governor Kayode Fayemi and those backing the party’s national leader,
Bola Tinubu, have continued to be at logger heads in the state.
Although both principals are yet to officially declare their presidential ambition, analysts say they have begun to position themselves should the party zone their presidential ticket to the south.
The battle between the two groups took a different dimension on Monday when a member of the party and Chairman of Ado Ward 8, Clement Afolabi, was suspended for having links with the South West Agenda (SWAGA), a group campaigning for the candidature of the party’s national leader, an act that was described as an “anti-party activity.”
