Technical details of the India-spec Discovery have also been revealed.
Land Rover has listed the Discovery facelift on the brand s Indian website. Technical details of the India-spec Discovery have also been revealed.
The SUV was globally unveiled in November 2020. It is available in two trims - Discovery and Discovery R-Dynamic, and three variants - S, SE and HSE.
On the outside, the updated Discovery gets matrix LED headlights, an optional panoramic sunroof and 19 to 21-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the SUV gets an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, head-up display, wireless charging, and 14 speaker 700W Meridian surround sound system. Optional equipment includes three-row heated seats, 4-zone climate control, and cabin air purifier.
While the design of the new Defender was clearly influenced by that of the original, under the skin it owes far more to the current Discovery and Range Rover, meaning no hardcore separate chassis or rigid axles. But don’t think that this means it’s gone soft.
The new Defender has more suspension travel and ground clearance than most of its siblings. And, like them, it’s packed with technology to help off road, including permanent four-wheel drive and a Terrain Response system that enables you to optimise the car for different conditions (or just select an automatic setting). You can even have something called ClearSight Ground View, which lets you see tricky obstacles underneath the front of the car.

For serious off-road drivers, itâs all part of the âfunâ. When the going gets tough and/or tight, you stay in the car and send forth your plucky mate/spouse/underling to see you through, whether itâs threading the car between tree trunks, guiding you at a snailâs pace through a boulder field or seeing you into the multi-storey car park without kerbing a wheel.
But such shenanigans arenât so appealing for the rest of us, hence Land Roverâs ClearSight Ground View system, which debuted a couple of years ago in the Mk2 Evoque. Similar systems are also available elsewhere â weâve been off-road in the revised Bentayga, which helps in much the same way when youâre nosing your £150k SUV into blind oblivion.
