Australian scientists join forces to treat blindness

The Clear Vision Research Lab at the Australian National University (ANU) has joined forces with a Korean biotechnology company, MDimune, to find a treatment or a cure for blindness. It has been estimated that 1.8 million Australians suffer from age-related macular degeneration (AMD), according to a researcher at Clear Vision Research Lab, Dr Adrian Cioanca. “In the late phases of the disease, the person will slow not be able to see faces, colours and will be unable to do simple tasks such as reading and writing,” Dr Cioanca said.
