The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) did indeed establish it has the statutory authority to adopt the Clean Car rules.
The MPCA complied with all procedural requirements of law and rule.
The proposed rules are both needed and reasonable. Therefore, the Administrative Law Judge APPROVES the proposed rules and recommends they be adopted, the order says.
The inception of Clean Cars Minnesota dates back to 2019, when Gov. Tim Walz directed the MPCA to begin a rulemaking process to adopt new standards for vehicle emissions.

GOP Senator Andrew Mathews of Princeton has a bill that would strip the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, or MPCA, of the power to set vehicle emissions standards.

Lyon County Commissioners Charlie Sanow and Steve Ritter joined in a Tuesday discussion of a proposed vehicle emission standards rule being considered by the MPCA. Commissioners passed a resolution formally speaking out against the proposal â a move that has already been made by organizations ranging from the Nobles County Board to the Marshall EDA.
MARSHALL Lyon County Commissioners weren’t alone in objecting to a new fuel efficiency rule being considered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
