Claysburg Christmas in the Park tradition returns

Memorial Day observances scheduled across the area

After a year in which Memorial Day observances largely were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services again are scheduled across the region on Sunday and Monday.

Gordon Robert P. Gordon, 88, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Claysburg, passed away Friday at home. He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Samuel S. and Geraldine (Amick) Gordon. He married Jean Roudabush on Sept. 23, 1951, at Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg. Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Crystal L. Gilchrist and husband, Andrew, of Schwenksville and Cynthia G. John and husband, Clayton, of Claysburg; five grandsons: Robert, Joseph, David, Christian and Ian; 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Samuel, Regina and Daniel; two aunts, Fleta and Helen; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School, where he was voted class president. He received a varsity letter in three sports all four years of school and signed a professional contract to play baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
