Heritage Center hosting 5-quilt migrant collection

Clay County Heritage representatives announced the center are hosting five quilts from the Migrant Quilt Project in Arizona beginning Tuesday, Feb. 20, and continuing through May 18. The quilts have been on a tour of Iowa over the past year with stops at Luther College, German American Heritage Center & Museum, Witter Gallery, Museum of Danish America with a final tour stop at Clay County Heritage.

Clay County Supervisors crafting new budget amid uncertainty

The Clay County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to spend nearly all day in session on Jan. 23 as the county budgeting process kicks into high gear. Budgeting for the 2025 fiscal year, which begins on July 1, will be further complicated by big changes made last year to property tax collections in Iowa. Supervisors will hear budget reviews from seven county government departments as well as funding requests from Clay County Tourism and the Clay County County Heritage Foundation.

County Heritage hosting Iowa History 101 mobile exhibit

Clay County Heritage announced it will be hosting Iowa History 101: People and Places Mobile Museum from Wednesday, Nov. 8, through to Friday, Nov. 10, in the parking lot west of the building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, along with Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the Mobile Museum is free. Admission to the Clay County Heritage Center and Parker Museum is always free thanks to sponsorship from Spencer Hy-Vee.
