ANYONE who has lived with a dog will know their capacity for learning the meaning of words, even ones you don’t want them to know.
How many times have you had to spell out the words “walk” or “dinner” in the hope of avoiding an explosion of excitement?

Washington [US], January 31 (ANI): A new study discovered that talented dogs can learn new words after hearing them only four times.
Preliminary evidence shows that though most dogs do not learn words (i.e. names of objects) unless very extensively trained, a few individuals have shown some exceptional abilities by learning new words after hearing them only four times.
The Family Dog Project research team at the Department of Ethology, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest is investigating these exceptionally talented dogs who seem to learn words in the absence of any formal training, but simply by being exposed to playing with their owners in the typical way owners do, in a human family.

With training from owners, dogs are capable of understanding basic commands such as sit, lie down and roll over
A new study has conducted two different types of experiments to find out if dogs who are extra talented are capable of learning a new word after hearing it only four times.
The research team, which is based in the Department of Ethology (the study of animal behaviour) at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, are investigating dogs who learn words without any formal training. The experiments are friendly - the dog s behaviour is studied by playing with toys as they would with their owners in a human family.
BUDAPEST, Jan 30 ― Hungarian researchers have identified and followed dogs exhibiting extraordinary abilities: the ability to memorise the names of objects in record time. These faculties are similar to those of a 2- or 3-year-old child. The close links between humans and dogs have been well.
