Entrusting the pivotal responsibility of conducting CLAT solely to the NTA or to the BCI, which have faced their own share of controversies, might not be the optimal approach.
BCI said that it is tasked with regulating standards of legal education and has been been "successfully conducting the All India Bar Examination since 2011".
Citing the National Education Policy of 2020, the Ministry of Education has said that it has no objection if the CLAT exams are held in English and regional languages.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has supported the PIL before the Delhi High Court seeking the conduct of CLAT in Hindi and other regional languages along with English.
