The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens has a long list of things it is doing to help conserve the monarch population and foster gardens that appeal to these butterflies and other pollinators. For starters, the gardens are beautiful on their own, but walking through them when the butterflies are migrating through Oklahoma between Mexico and Canada is another treat.
The zoo also is part of the Oklahoma Monarch and Pollinator Collaborative (online at okiesformonarchs.org), which is a statewide initiative on this effort, and it offers other monarch education programming.
